Plastics in Agriculture Lesson 3 : Agricultural plastics, pollution, and waste control management
Plastic is an important material used in agriculture. It has transformed how we farm, from simple baler twine to silage wrap. However, if these resources are not managed well they can escape into the environment, getting into our soil, rivers and eventually our sea!
These resources form a series of three lessons designed around the City and Guilds Advanced Diploma in Agriculture aimed at level 3 Further Education learners. The lessons focus on sources and impacts of plastic pollution as well as possible solutions and good waste management practice. Each lesson contains a presentation and student activity worksheets.
This lesson will:
- Outline the scope of plastic waste management and regulation
- Describe waste storage regulation on site
- Use case studies to demonstrate how to create a good waste management plan to prevent, reuse and correctly dispose of plastic farm waste
