Litter Pick and Citizen Science Lesson Plans

You and your class can help tackle plastic pollution around your school and prevent harmful plastics from reaching the sea, with this set of resources for primary schools, developed by The Rivers Trust. We have all seen the devastation plastics and now microplastics have on the natural environment, and especially on the marine environment. Around 80% of all marine litter comes from a land source so it is crucial that we better understand and tackle this pollution at its source. We cannot do this without the help of everyone and are calling on schools on both sides of the channel to become citizen scientists.

In this download pack you will find:

  • Lesson plans for lower and upper Key Stage 2, (includes links to the citizen science platform)
  • A presentation on preventing plastic pollution to use in class
  • Guidance on how to run a litter pick safety around your school
